Privacy Policy

Effective date: [To be set at launch]

Draft — pending legal review. This document is a working draft to be finalized with qualified legal counsel before public launch. Items shown in [brackets] — the operating legal entity, contact email, and governing jurisdiction — must be confirmed. It reflects PrayBreak’s intended practices and is not yet a binding agreement.

PrayBreak (“PrayBreak,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a Christian self-help and habit-formation app that helps men interrupt urges and build discipline through prayer, scripture, and action. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and the choices you have.

PrayBreak is a non-medical, educational, and spiritual self-help application. It is not a healthcare service, medical device, therapy, or treatment program, and it does not create a doctor-patient or therapist-client relationship. Please also read our Terms & Conditions, which include important disclaimers.

By downloading, accessing, or using PrayBreak, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information You Provide

When you create an account or use the app, you may provide:

  • Account information — your email address, display name, and confirmation that you meet the minimum age requirement.
  • Faith and personalization preferences — goals, motivations, reminder settings, and religious or personalization choices you enter to tailor your experience.
  • Recovery activity — streaks, relapse logs, prayer and journal entries, triggers, and check-ins that you choose to record. You enter, edit, and delete this content, and we do not interpret it as a medical or psychological assessment.
  • Support communications — information you share when you contact us for help.

2. Information Collected Automatically

When you use the app, we may automatically collect:

  • Device and technical data — device model, operating system, app version, general region, IP address, and crash or diagnostic logs.
  • Usage analytics — which features you use, session length, and navigation patterns, used to operate and improve the app.
  • Permissions you grant — such as push notifications. We do not access your contacts, microphone, camera, or precise location unless you explicitly grant permission for a specific feature.

3. Device Permissions and Screen Time Blocking

PrayBreak includes optional tools that help you block adult websites and distracting apps using Apple’s Screen Time and related device features. When you turn these tools on, your device asks for your permission through a system prompt, and you may grant or decline it.

Some blocking — such as restricting adult websites — must be set up manually by you, following the step-by-step instructions we provide, because it is configured inside your own device settings.

When you use these features, PrayBreak applies the restrictions you choose. We do not monitor, collect, or store your browsing history, the specific websites you visit, the apps you open, or how you use your device outside of PrayBreak. You can change or remove these permissions at any time in your device settings.

4. Payment Information

Purchases and subscriptions are processed by the Apple App Store (and any other authorized payment processor). PrayBreak does not collect or store your full payment card numbers or payment credentials. Your transaction is governed by the payment provider’s own terms and privacy policy.

5. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and secure your account and the app’s features.
  • Generate your personal progress, streaks, and reminders.
  • Respond to support requests and communicate important service updates.
  • Improve app performance, reliability, and content.
  • Process subscriptions and detect fraud or abuse.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

6. Your Recovery Data Is Sensitive — And Private By Design

We treat your recovery activity, journal and prayer entries, and personal logs as sensitive. This information is never sold, never used for advertising or profiling, and never shared with data brokers.

PrayBreak is private by design: there is no public feed, no social accountability wall, and no audience for your struggle. Your battles stay between you and God.

7. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA/UK)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract — to provide the app and your account.
  • Legitimate interests — to secure the app and prevent fraud and abuse.
  • Consent — for optional features and permissions, which you may withdraw at any time.
  • Legal obligation — to comply with applicable law.

8. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in limited circumstances:

  • Service providers — trusted vendors that host our infrastructure, provide analytics and crash reporting, process payments, or help with support, all bound by contract to protect your data and use it only for those services.
  • Legal and safety — when we reasonably believe disclosure is required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users, the public, or PrayBreak.
  • Business transfers — if PrayBreak is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred, subject to this Policy or notice of any change.

9. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the app, maintain your account, and meet legal, financial, or audit obligations. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal data except where we are required or permitted by law to retain it. Anonymized or aggregated data that cannot identify you may be retained.

10. Data Security

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and secure infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

If we become aware of a security incident that affects your personal information, we will investigate and notify you where required by applicable law.

11. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR/UK GDPR and the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Delete your information, subject to legal retention.
  • Export a copy of your information.
  • Restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent and opt out of non-essential communications.

12. How to Exercise Your Rights

You can manage much of your information directly in the app. To make a rights request, contact us at [privacy contact email]. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law, generally within 30 to 45 days. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

13. Account and Data Deletion

You may delete your account at any time from within the app’s settings, or by contacting us at [privacy contact email]. Deleting your account removes your personal data except for information we must retain for legal, security, or audit purposes, and any anonymized or aggregated data.

14. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We and our service providers use cookies, SDKs, and similar technologies to remember your preferences, keep you signed in, and measure app performance. We do not use your sensitive recovery data for advertising targeting.

15. Aggregated and De-Identified Data

We may create and retain aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you. We may use this information for analytics, product development, and research, and we maintain and use it in de-identified form.

16. International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than the one in which you live, including the United States. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses to protect your information when it is transferred internationally.

17. Age Requirements

PrayBreak addresses mature themes related to pornography and sexual temptation and is intended for users 17 years of age and older. PrayBreak is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your region), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

18. Third-Party Links and Services

The app may reference or link to third-party services that we do not control. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those services, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.

19. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app, by email, or by posting a notice. Your continued use of PrayBreak after an update means you accept the revised Policy.

20. Contact Us

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or your information, contact us at [privacy contact email], operated by [Company legal entity].
