Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 24, 2026

PrayBreak™ is made by Obscurium LLC (“PrayBreak,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what the PrayBreak iOS app stores, what our website collects, and who can see any of it.

The short version: what you record in the app — your quiz answers, your relapse logs, your streaks, your saved prayers — is stored on your phone. There is no PrayBreak account and no PrayBreak server. We never receive that information, so we cannot read it, sell it, or hand it to anyone. Our website is separate and does collect a small amount of ordinary visitor information, which is described below.

PrayBreak is a spiritual self-help app. It is not a healthcare service, medical device, therapy, or treatment program, and using it does not create a doctor-patient or therapist-client relationship. Please also read our Terms of Use.

1. What the App Stores on Your Device

Everything in this section is entered by you, and all of it is saved in your iPhone’s standard local storage. It is not sent anywhere.

  • Your first name, and your gender if you choose to give it. The name is used to greet you. The gender is used only to pick the word “Brother” or “Sister.” We do not ask for your surname, email address, phone number, or a password.
  • Your onboarding answers — what you are fighting, how often it is winning, how long it has had a grip on you, what happens after you give in, how many times you have tried to quit, what you have already tried, where your walk with God is, what you are fighting for, and when you are most vulnerable.
  • Your recovery record — days you confirmed clean, relapses you logged with their date and the triggers you selected, your current streak, your longest streak, your recovery start date, and the LOOK, PRAY, and MOVE sessions you completed.
  • Your saved prayers, your pledge progress, and your settings — haptics, music, exercise lengths, and check-in time.

2. There Is No Account and No Server

PrayBreak has no sign-up, no login, and no user accounts. We do not operate a server that stores what you record, and the app does not send what you write to us or to anyone else. It has no ability to: there is no code in the app that makes network requests of its own.

This is the single most important fact in this policy, and everything below follows from it. We are not promising to be careful with your relapse history. We are telling you we never receive it.

One consequence worth being clear about: because your entries live only on your device, we cannot recover them for you. If you delete the app, lose your phone, or reset it, that information is gone and we have no copy to restore.

3. What Does Leave Your Device

Two companies are involved in the app, both for the subscription. Neither of them receives what you record.

  • Apple — processes your purchase and runs the subscription billing through the App Store, under Apple’s own terms and privacy policy. We never see your card number or your Apple credentials. Apple also delivers the app’s reminder notifications, which are scheduled on your own device.
  • RevenueCat — helps us manage subscription status so paid features unlock and you can restore a purchase on a new phone. RevenueCat receives purchase and subscription information and an app-generated identifier. The app is built so it cannot send RevenueCat your name, your gender, your quiz answers, your relapse logs, or any other identity or recovery information — an automated check blocks the build if anyone tries to add that. RevenueCat processes this data as our service provider; see revenuecat.com/privacy for what they collect.

4. What the App Does Not Contain

We think this list matters more than most of the promises an app can make, because these are the things that would have to exist for your information to be at risk:

  • No analytics software of any kind. We do not measure which screens you visit, how long you stay, or what you tap.
  • No advertising or attribution software, and no advertising identifier collection. These are blocked at build time.
  • No crash-reporting software. Also blocked at build time.
  • No tracking pixels, no data brokers, and no third-party advertising networks.
  • No sale of personal information, and no sharing of personal information for advertising, under any definition used by US state privacy laws.
  • No social feed, no public wall, and no way for another person using PrayBreak to see anything you record.

5. Permissions the App Asks For

Notifications — if you turn on the nightly check-in, the app schedules a reminder on your own device. These are local notifications. The app does not register for remote push notifications and holds no device token, which means there is no channel through which we could send you anything, even if we wanted to.

Screen Time — the adult-site shield uses Apple’s Screen Time and Family Controls features. The blocking runs on your device through Apple’s system. We do not receive, monitor, or store your browsing history, the sites you visit, or the apps you open. Some blocking has to be set up by you in your own device settings, following the instructions we provide. You can change or remove these permissions at any time in Settings.

The app does not request access to your contacts, microphone, camera, photos, or location.

6. Sensitive Information and Your Legal Protections

Your onboarding answers and your relapse records describe your sexual behaviour and your religious belief. Under the UK and EU GDPR that is “special category” data under Article 9, and several US state laws treat it as sensitive or as consumer health data. It deserves the strongest possible handling.

The strongest possible handling, in our case, is not to have it. Because this information never leaves your device and we never receive it, we do not process it, and the questions that normally follow — what is our lawful basis, who do we share it with, how long do we keep it — do not arise. To the extent any processing happens, it happens on your own phone, under your control, at your choice.

We are not using that fact to avoid the subject. If we ever build a feature that sends this information off your device, that feature will be something you switch on, and we will say so in this policy before it starts, not after.

7. Our Website Is Separate — Here Is What It Collects

praybreak.app is a normal website and does collect a small amount of ordinary visitor information. This is entirely separate from the app, and nothing described here touches what you record in the app.

  • Vercel — hosts the site and provides Vercel Web Analytics, which measures page visits and performance. It does not use cookies and does not build a profile of you across sites.
  • Cloudflare — provides security, DNS, and routing. It processes technical request information such as your IP address in order to deliver the site.
  • Kit (formerly ConvertKit) — runs our launch email list. If you type your email address into the form on this website, Kit stores it so we can email you when the app launches. That is the only reason we hold it. You can unsubscribe from any email we send. The app never adds you to this list, and the list is not connected to anything in the app.
  • If you email support@praybreak.app, we receive your message and your email address so we can reply.

8. How We Use What We Do Have

Our uses are narrow, because we hold very little:

  • To unlock paid features, restore purchases, and handle billing problems.
  • To reply to you when you contact support.
  • To send launch updates, if you asked for them on our website.
  • To keep the website working, secure, and fast.
  • To comply with the law, and to enforce our Terms.

9. Legal Bases (UK and EU)

If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, we rely on:

  • Performance of a contract — to provide the app and your subscription.
  • Consent — for the website email list, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing.
  • Legitimate interests — to keep the website secure and functioning, and to answer your support messages.
  • Legal obligation — where the law requires us to act.

10. Your Rights

Under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the CCPA and CPRA in California, and similar laws elsewhere, you have rights to access, correct, delete, and export your personal information, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. You also have the right not to be treated differently for exercising them.

We confirm plainly: we do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising or targeted advertising. There is nothing for you to opt out of, because we do not do it.

There is an honest limit to what we can do for you on a request. We cannot access, export, correct, or delete what is stored in the app, because we never receive it — you already hold all of it, and you can change or delete it yourself in the app or by deleting the app. What we can act on is what we actually hold: your email address if you joined the website list, your support messages, and your subscription record.

To make a request, email support@praybreak.app. We will respond within the time the law requires, generally 30 to 45 days.

11. Deleting Your Information

Deleting the app from your phone deletes everything it stored, because all of it was on your phone. There is no copy anywhere else and no account left behind.

To leave the website email list, use the unsubscribe link in any email, or ask us at support@praybreak.app.

Your purchase and subscription record sits with Apple and RevenueCat, who keep it for their own legal, tax, and fraud-prevention purposes. Manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings.

12. How Long We Keep Things

We keep the website email list until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you. We keep support messages for as long as we need them to help you and to keep a record of the issue. Subscription records are retained by Apple and RevenueCat under their own schedules and applicable tax and accounting law. We keep nothing else, because we receive nothing else.

13. Security

What you record in the app is protected by your iPhone itself — your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and Apple’s device encryption. Keeping your phone locked and updated is the most effective thing you can do to protect it. Anyone who can unlock your phone can open the app and read what is in it.

For the small amount of information we do hold, we use access controls and reputable providers, and information sent to and from our website is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a security incident affects your personal information, we will investigate and notify you where the law requires.

14. Age Requirements

PrayBreak deals frankly with pornography and sexual temptation. The App is rated 16+ on the App Store and is intended for users aged 16 and over, in line with our Terms of Use. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe someone under 16 has provided information to us, contact support@praybreak.app and we will delete it.

Where the law sets a higher age for consent to data processing than 16, that higher age applies to you.

15. International Users

Obscurium LLC is based in the United States, and our website providers process information there. If you use the website or contact us from outside the US, that information will be handled in the US, and we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses where required. What the app stores never crosses a border, because it never leaves your phone.

16. Links to Other Services

The app and website may link to services we do not control, such as the App Store or outside help resources. This policy does not cover those services, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.

17. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. If we make a material change, we will post the updated policy here with a new date, and where the change is significant we will also tell you in the app or by email.

We commit specifically to this: if we ever start collecting a category of information we do not collect today — for example if we build the optional backup feature described below — we will update this policy and tell you before that collection begins, and you will choose whether to use the feature.

18. What We Are Considering Building

None of this exists today. We describe it so you are not surprised later.

Optional backup and sync, so you could move to a new phone without losing your streak and history. This would require an account and would mean your recovery information leaves your device. It would be your choice to turn on, and this policy would be updated first.

Product analytics that count anonymous steps — such as how many people finish onboarding, or reach the subscription screen — so we can find where the app confuses people. If we add it, it would be a privacy-focused tool chosen because it cannot carry your quiz answers or your relapse records, and we would say so here before turning it on.
